Fishing for carp is a rather challenging pasttime because carp are rather smart and often suspicious of anything put in front of them. However, with a bit of trickery, you can lure the fish and trick them into being caught. Here’s just some useful tips to assist you when fishing for carp:-

• Use boilies based on fishmeal in the summer and autumn seasons, and dabble with half-half combinations or even bird food types of bait in the finer weather (winter and spring)
• Use various pellet sizes or particles in the spod mixture. This aids in disorientating the carp, and gives you the selection to use several sizes on the hook.
• If you’re concerned about overfeeding the swim, then experiment with breadcrumb groundbait with merely the attractants added, but with particle baits NOT included. This tempts the fish without stuffing them.
• If possible, make sure not to stick rounded bait on the hook. So many fishing lines sport rounded bait, you want to be different. Try to square the hook bait using scissors.
