Improving One’s Health Using Essential Oils
The function of aromatherapy is to improve our well-being using plant oils and essential oils. Aromatherapy has been in use for thousands of years to improve health. There are around 90 essential oils that have been discovered on the planet.
There are other substances you can include under the expression aromatherapy : cold pressed vegetable oils, jojoba (a liquid wax), hydrosols, herbs, etc.
Please elaborate, what are the health benefits? It seems implausible that merely from smelling a substance or putting it on the surface of my skin, I could improve my health. What is actually going on? The fragrance of the natural essential oil induces the mind to spark off a chemical reaction, and when inhaled into the lungs, the natural constituents can provide a therapeutic benefit.
Since volatile oils are so concentrated and strong, they should never be put on to skin in their fully concentrated form. To spread essential oils to skin, they are usually diluted into a carrier such as a vegetable oil, also known as a carrier oil. Common carrier oils are apricot kernel oil, grapeseed oil, and sweet almond oil.
So whereabouts can I get aromatherapy wares, and what should I look out for? A general rule is to be mistrustful of items that don’t list their ingredients and those that do not use pure essential oils. Browsing on the web, there’s an abundance of aromatherapy retail merchants, where you can get all kinds of things…..from Jasmine Shampoos to bath crystals.
