The popularity of online dating services is not accidental. It’s a logical result of innovative technologies and social demands combination. This popularity speaks for numerous advantages that online dating sites offer to their members.
The first one is convenience which has different sides that can be considered as separate advantages:
- Time convenience (the rhythm of our life is so rash that rather often we just don’t have time for dating and go out)
- Access convenience (all you need to start or to continue online dating is a computer attached to the Internet)
- Use convenience (you are able to communicate with your date at any time you want not dependently on transport, restaurant working hours or any other circumstances)
- Choice convenience (when a member creates a personal he/she clearly defines what kind of relationships they are looking for; besides a member can from the very beginning register at a site that offers some specific choice – e.g. gay dating, Afro-American dating, or Muslim dating, etc. – and don’t waste the precious time for long search)
If think well every person can name at least three important advantages of online dating in comparison to casual dating. And that is the reason why the number of members increases every day.

A building that on the outside has all the features of a regular period structure, but from the inside is a hub of modern-day activity with beeping phones and an array of computer screens may sound unbelievable. However, this is exactly what Glancy Nicholls Architects (GNA) achieved when they gave a modern look to the Calthorpe Estate in Edgbaston, without compromising on its historical legacy.
What existed as a small confined office building was changed to a modern structure equipped with ventilation, various electrical fittings, and spacious interiors to ensure a better workplace experience.
GNA representative Lyndon Glancy said that the building was an array of cubicle, as most period estates are. However, without spoiling the basic architectural features of the period (like tall ceilings), the company successfully converted the building into a modern-day edifice.
According to Glancy, the reconstruction was a real test, but when the work was over, the building stood as a marvel that represented the best of both worlds the world of lavish architecture and the world of sleek corporate work culture. Moreover, an additional office space of more than 700sq ft was created out of the renovated area.
With a new reception area, wet room, kitchen area, and larger conference rooms, the new building is all set to give workers a truly professional workplace experience. Small separate zones have been converted into spacious open working areas to ensure both visibility and communication among employees who need to work in close coordination with each other. The outer facade of Calthorpe Estate has not been disturbed. This is to adhere to the aesthetic priorities of Edgbaston area that will not allow any architectural experimentation on its period buildings.
